Crime of the week 7-3-23

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

 

On June 19th, 2023 at approximately 8:30 P.M. Decatur Police responded to Family Dollar located at 1315 N Water in reference to an armed robbery.  

 

The investigation revealed two suspects entered the business with one of them being armed with a handgun.  The two suspects walked behind the counter, struck an employee, and demanded money.  These suspects removed an undisclosed amount of money and left the business on foot running in a N/E direction. 

 

The first suspect who was armed with a handgun was a black male who had a white face covering.  This suspect was wearing a red long sleeved shirt which had a picture of “Marilyn Monroe” on front, black pants, and white shoes.  

The second suspect was a black male wearing a black mask who was dressed in all black clothing and black shoes.  Both suspects were wearing white colored gloves. (Photos Below)

Crime of the Week 8/2/21

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On July 11th, 2021 at approximately 1:45 A.M, Decatur Police responded to the intersection of W Main / N Edward in reference to a shooting.  Officers arrived on scene and observed a red Dodge Challenger stopped in this intersection. Officers would observe the driver of the vehicle to be deceased.   The driver was later identified as Shomari Page.      

The investigation revealed Shomari was driving the Challenger near this intersection when he was struck by gunfire as he was sitting inside his vehicle.  

The Decatur Police is asking for any area businesses or residences that have camera footage near this intersection to contact police.  You can contact Detective Kaylor directly at 217-542-3414.

Crime of the week 6/14/21

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week. 

Over the past several weeks there have been numerous arsons throughout the city of Decatur.  A large portion of these arsons are occurring at residences within a few blocks of Old Kings Orchard Community Center which is located at 815 N Church Street.

Crime of the week 5/17/21

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week. 

On the morning of July 5th, 2018 at approximately 12:30 A.M. DPD Officers responded to shots fired in the 1200 block of E Whitmer.  While on scene a gunshot victim named Dy’Rek Griffin was brought to St Mary’s Hospital.  Dy’Rek had been shot once in the head and succumbed to his injury. 

The investigation showed Dy’Rek was at a 4th of July celebration at 1245 E Whitmer and was shot 1 time while at the party.
